As a College, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, a time to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme encouraged us to reflect deeply on the importance of building community, promoting respect, and fostering understanding across generations and cultures.

Our whole-school assembly was a highlight, bringing students and staff together in a spirit of unity and learning. We were honoured to welcome Uncle Warren, who shared stories and wisdom that reminded us of the deep connection between land, culture, and identity.

A particularly special moment was the unveiling of our new mural, a vibrant and meaningful artwork that celebrates Aboriginal culture, our Aboriginal students, and our connection to the local area. This mural now stands as a visual reminder of our commitment to reconciliation and respect.

We were also delighted to host students from Kurri Kurri High School, who presented traditional Aboriginal dances from the local area, enriching our celebration with movement and storytelling. In addition, we welcomed students from Barker College, Ngarralingayil, whose presence and participation added to the spirit of shared learning and cultural exchange.

As we move forward into the term, we encourage all members of our community to continue to listen to, learn from, and respect the stories and journeys of everyone around us. It is through these shared experiences that we grow stronger together.
