Reconciliation Week 2026 at Gilibaa

We’ve had a wonderful Reconciliation Week here at Gilibaa, taking time to reflect, learn and come together as a community.

For many of us, Reconciliation Week is about people sitting together – despite our differences – around one fire. This year’s theme, “All In,” reminds us that meaningful reconciliation requires everyone’s contribution. In Romans 5, we are reminded how Jesus made reconciliation possible, even while we were still far from Him. It’s a powerful example of grace, forgiveness and restoration.

Last Friday, we were honoured to hear from Worimi Elder, Aunty Lorraine, at our Staff Chapel. Drawing from Jeremiah 29:11, she reminded us of God’s promise: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Her message encouraged us to trust in God’s purpose and continue forward with hope.

This week, we also joined with our friends from the main campus to share in song, enjoy food, and watch a film that deepened our understanding of culture and connection.

Mr Telfer spoke about his personal journey of reconciliation to Christ, and how this shapes his vision for reconciliation with others. He reflected on how recognising the past, seeking forgiveness, and walking forward together is at the heart of what Reconciliation Week represents.

As we wrap up the week, we’re reminded that reconciliation is not just an event, but an ongoing commitment. May we continue to look for ways to draw closer to the fire – together – not just this week, but into the future.

Every step, no matter how small, contributes to lasting change.
