St Philip's Christian Education Foundation (SPCEF) provides quality education in a caring, secure and challenging learning environment based on Christian beliefs, values and practices. St Philip's Christian Education's core values of Christ First, Serve One Another, Strive for Excellence, Do What is Right and Build Community are a reflection of our 'faith expressing itself in love' (Galations 6:5). Our faith permeates through all that we do and underpins the foundation of our lives. It is out of a demonstration of this faith that students will have the opportunity to discover the wonderful privilege of having a genuine relationship with God through His love as we seek to meet their needs in education.
Our Values
At Narnia Early Learning, our number one priority is the safety, health and wellbeing of all children and young people in our care. In keeping with the core values of Narnia Early Learning, we are committed to creating and sustaining a child safe culture at all levels of our service, where the rights of children are respected, upheld, and actively promoted.
We place Christ First in all that we do, striving to ensure every child is valued, nurtured and protected within a culture of love, compassion and respect. We Serve One Another by listening to and caring for children, families, and staff, fostering trusting relationships and shared responsibility for safety.
We champion a culture of openness, inclusiveness and awareness, where all children feel safe, respected and valued. We do not tolerate abuse, harm, bullying harassment or the risk of harm to any child or young person. We act on all concerns raised and are committed to encouraging a culture of reporting that supports staff, families and children to speak up.
We Do What is Right by actively listening to all children and empowering them to know and exercise their rights. We are committed to equity and the inclusion of all children, regardless of their abilities, cultural background, language, faith, or socio-economic circumstances.
Child Safety
Our service fully upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and implements the Child Safe Standards to enhance our ability to prevent, identify and respond to abuse or risk of harm. Our Child Safe Environment Policy and Child Protection Policy outline clear expectations for child safety and define our mandatory reporting obligations. These policies are regularly reviewed and updated as we Strive for Excellence in safeguarding practices.
All Narnia Early Learning staff undergo rigorous screening, including Working with Children Checks, induction into our child safety policies, and ongoing training in child protection, children's rights and ethical conduct. We maintain clear guidelines around acceptable and unacceptable behaviour and reinforce strict boundaries between adults and children, which apply to all staff, volunteers, students and members of our broader community. We maintain strict policies on the safe use of digital technologies and online environments, including restrictions on personal mobile phones and devices capable of taking images or videos while working directly with children, to protect children's privacy and safety
Inclusivity and Cultural Safety
We embrace and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, recognising, respecting, and valuing their diverse and unique identities, cultures and experiences.
We are committed to cultural safety and to ensuring that First Nations children and families feel respected, heard and safe.
Family and Community Involvement
Children and families are actively involved in decision-making processes on matters that affect them. We Build Community by nurturing strong partnerships with families and carers, and we welcome feedback, input and concerns to continually improve our practice.
This Statement of Commitment to Child Safety forms part of our service philosophy and is publicly displayed in our foyer, on our website to ensure it is visible and accessible to all members of our community.
