Robotics
One of the projects that creates considerable interest is Robotics. Students are able to program a small robot that they have created out of Lego and allow it to follow a black line and then attack cans of Coke. Similarly these robots can be used to dance to music - the possibilities are endless.
Information Software Technology
Information Software Technology is taught in Stage 5. We use an innovative approach by teaching an A year and B year. The A year consists of Robotics, Software Design and Website Design. The B year consists of Game Design, Film Design, Animation both 2D and 3D and Photography. These courses lead into Stage 6 courses of Industrial Technology Multimedia and Software Design and Development. We have entered Robocup for the past six years and have won places at regional, state and national levels.
Industrial Technology Multimedia
Industrial Technology Multimedia allows students to explore different digital media types such as text, video, animation, audio, hypertext and graphics through experimentation and small projects. The students design a multimedia presentation of their own choice. The types of projects are only limited by the student's imagination. They can range from a photobook with QR code incorporating augmented reality to creating a game using virtual reality. The students can create simple projects such as video and stop motion animation. Every year we have had success with students reaching a band 6 and two students being nominated for InTech Design showcase.
Software Design & Development
Software Design and Development is a course designed for students who wish to develop skills in coding and programming software solutions. The students design a software solution for their minor work in Year 11 and their major work in Year 12. This could be a game using a game engine such as Unity or a website. ,
In less than ten years, students will be required to code and have skills creating using digital technology for their employment opportunities. These subjects do not have any prior knowledge required and are a great way to learn, develop and grow with digital technology.
Music Program
Music at St Philip's Christian College enriches the whole community and is an activity that most students enjoy. Students are able to be part of an ensemble, have private lessons, and study Music as a subject. In Junior School and Middle School, Music is part of their weekly lessons, and in Senior School students are able to choose to study Music as a subject or choose to learn an instrument at school. The study of Music in the Senior School aims to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary for students’ active participation in performing, composing and listening, as well as experiencing an increased enjoyment of music.
Instrumental Tuition
Our Instrumental Music Program offers students the opportunity to learn an instrument of their choice. Individual music lessons are conducted in 30 minute sessions during school hours and fees are charged per term by the instrumental tutor.

Music Ensembles
Students also have the opportunity to participate in various Music Ensembles (free of charge). Ensemble members are able to develop their confidence, social skills and performance skills on their instrument. Various performances and excursions also take place throughout the year, where students showcase their progress and achievements on their instruments.

Drama
Drama is a dynamic and exciting subject studied in Junior School and Middle School classes as part of their Core studies, and available as a subject elective in Stage 5 and 6 in Senior School.
The aim of Drama in Middle School is to provide the students with experiences in which the intellect, the emotions, the imagination and the body are all involved and developed through expression, performance, observation and reflection.
In later stages, our aim is to encourage our students to realise the unique value of self and others. Lessons focus on developing students’ confidence and skills in collaboration, communication and creativity.
The syllabus is designed for students to experience, understand, enjoy and value drama as a social, collaborative and creative art form, and as an expression of culture through making, performing and critically studying drama and theatre.
