It was a privilege to gather together with our new student leaders from all the SPCC Campuses for our Annual Leadership Symposium, last Thursday 14th November at St Philip's Christian College Waratah.
Throughout the day the students heard from our Executive and Founding Principal, Mr Graeme Irwin and Matt “Wiley” Wilesmith who is the Director of NSW Youth Alive, Youth Pastor for Hope UC and teacher as SPCC Waratah.
Both shared their immense wisdom and valuable insights about what it means to leader as a servant leader. Although there were many important ideas shared, the overwhelming message was that “leadership is about people” and the little thing that we do as leaders to connect with people, make them feel seen & take them with us, really matters.
The food of course was excellent, and our students had the opportunity to meet new people who are also at the beginning of their leadership journey. The afternoon session allowed each of the campus leaders to brainstorm possible new initiatives and how they would implement those when they return to their colleges. It was an excellent day and I look forward to seeing the fruit of this wonderful event.
