It was a great opportunity Channel 9 gave SPCC DALE Young Parents and BRAVE Foundation on Thursday, 30th August to share with Australia the brilliant partnership that has emerged from the Department of Social Services, TRY, TEST, LEARN initiative.

The Supporting Expecting and Parenting Teens (SEPT) Project provides 5 organisations across Australia that work with Teenage parents and young families, with a BRAVE Mentor to support their journey through pregnancy and parenthood by connecting and engaging with education and training. The SEPT Project provides mentoring for up to 2 years where an individual pathway plan is developed and implemented which contains everything from setting goals, parenting support, referrals to support services, connections with education and training through to employment - HOW AMAZING IS THIS!!

We are especially proud of our young parents, Cassidy & Gavin, Abbey and Tahlia for their strength and courage in sharing some of their journey. They wanted to participate in this media opportunity so they could connect with other young parents around Australia who think they can’t get anywhere because they have had a child and let them know they CAN!!!

Mel’s role as BRAVE Mentor is going from strength to strength as she connects and engages with our young parents and others who need someone to simply walk the journey beside them as they grow in skills and confidence.
