Our Mission

St Philip’s Christian Teaching School will continue to provide quality education in a caring, secure and challenging learning environment based on Christian beliefs, values and practice

Be on guard. Remain strong in your faith, Be brave. Be loving in everything that you do.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

The St Philip's Teaching School exists to develop exemplar Christian teachers who are classroom-ready and display Jesus in all they do. Christian Education is far more than a Christian way of understanding; it is about the whole of life — a way of living. At the St Philip's Teaching School, we seek to train authentic Christian teachers equipped to invite, inform and inspire young people on their journey of knowing and deepening their faith in Jesus.

At the St Philip's Teaching School, we provide a uniquely better teacher training model, dovetailing theory and practice in an immersive school-based experience with a Christian worldview:
School Experience
  • Christ-centred approach to teacher training within a Christian community
  • A dedicated Christian Mentor Teacher
  • Immediate immersion in the school environment offering Trainee Teachers employment as teaching assistants 1-2 days per week for the duration of their training
  • Supportive professional learning community
  • Immediate application of the learnt theory
Tertiary Partnership
  • Christ-centred approach to teacher training
  • Innovative method of teacher training which brings higher education and instruction onsite to schools
  • Partnership with Alphacrucis University College, Australia's largest Protestant-affiliated tertiary provider, offering Bachelor of Education Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary and Master of Teaching — Primary and Secondary
Teaching School Hub
  • Christ-centred approach to teacher formation
  • Trainee mentoring and support
  • Small cohort size providing individual care and personalised pathways
  • A holistic approach to teacher development, providing professional, spiritual and emotional mentoring
  • Breadth of school-based experiences
  • Weekly insight sessions
  • Organisation of school placements
  • Support with Professional Experience placements
  • Pastoral care and wellbeing support

The Teaching School is a dream that has now become a reality. I believe that the Teaching School is a way forward for teacher education in this country. The immediate on-the-job application of the learnt theory is extremely beneficial for producing successful teachers. Still, beyond this, we are educating teachers in a tertiary setting which is Christ-focused, and this is ground-breaking. The St Philip's Teaching School produces teachers who have had four years of in-classroom teaching experience and teachers educated from a Christian worldview.
