For the Whole of Their Life.
Leading the way in pioneering a uniquely better way of teacher training
For the Whole of Their Life
The St Philip's Christian College group of schools leads the way in 'Whole of Life' education. The College spans six schools and caters for students from Early Childhood to Tertiary Learning. At St Philip's Christian College, we passionately believe in the need for independent schools which develop the whole child - intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually. Our schools maintain high academic and behavioural standards while keeping the truth of the Christian Gospel at its core.Commencing in 2018, in partnership with Alphacrucis University College, the St Philip's Teaching School brought to life the vision to train classroom-ready Christian educators within nurturing Christ-centred school communities. Both school and tertiary provider recognised the need to improve the quality of teacher training by involving principals, exemplar teachers, students and school communities in forming Christian teachers. Founded on the belief that it takes a village to raise a teacher, an apprenticeship model of teacher training was launched. Trainee teachers engage in school life from day one of their degrees with the support of dedicated mentor teachers and the Teaching School team.
At the St Philip's Teaching School, we embrace the opportunity to engage with affiliated schools to equip people who love Jesus and have a calling to teach. The partnership with Maitland, Hunter and the Association of Regional Christian Schools provides a rich and diverse learning community and prepares teachers for service in Christian Schools across Australia.
The vision of the St Philip's Teaching School is to focus on the whole person and to shape exemplar Christian teachers who are classroom-ready and display Jesus in all they do. Christian Education is far more than a Christian way of understanding; it is about the whole of life – a way of living. At the St Philip's Teaching School, we seek to train authentic Christian teachers equipped to invite, inform and inspire young people on their journey of knowing and deepening their faith in Jesus.
