Leading the way in pioneering a uniquely better way of teacher training
For the Whole of Their Life
The St Philip's Christian College group of schools leads the way in Whole of Life Education. The College spans six schools and caters to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Tertiary Learning. At St Philip's Christian College, we passionately believe in the need for independent schools which develop the whole child - intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually; schools that maintain high academic and behavioural standards while keeping the truth of the Christian Gospel at its core.
Leading the way in pioneering a uniquely better way of teacher training, the St Philip's Teaching School commenced in 2018, in partnership with Alphacrucis College, bringing to life the vision to train and equip Christian educators within a school community. The St Philip's Teaching School exists to develop exemplar Christian teachers who are classroom-ready and display Jesus in all they do. Christian Education is far more than a Christian way of understanding; it is about the whole of life – a way of living. At the St Philip's Teaching School, we seek to train authentic Christian teachers equipped to invite, inform and inspire young people on their journey of knowing and deepening their faith in Jesus.
The St Philip's Teaching School was launched in direct response to the long-held knowledge that graduate teachers are not, in fact, classroom ready. The consensus was that the traditional teacher training model needed to be 'flipped' to provide greater input from school communities to raise the next generation of teachers. Therefore, an in-situ bachelor's degree within the St Philip's Christian College group of schools was launched. Both school and tertiary provider recognised that to improve the quality of teacher training; we need to involve exemplar teachers, principals and schools.
