I have recently stepped into the role of PTF President, midterm. Greg McKenna, the elected President, found it necessary to step down due to a considerably increased work load in his business. Greg held the position for four years and the PTF members are greatly appreciative of his energetic and faithful leadership over this period.
The PTF is a welcoming and relaxed community where Parents, Caretakers and Teachers are encouraged to meet together on a regular basis and have an open conversation. The agenda of the meetings usually consists of reports from the President, Treasurer and Fund Raising Committee followed by a time where the Principal shares a variety of current issues and future plans that he considers meaningful and important to share and get our feedback. Ample time will be given for open discussion and sharing.
We spend some time during the year raising funds to support the purchase of items to enhance the college resources, these items are normally in additional to the normal college budget funding. We identify and prioritise areas of expenditure bi-annually in collaboration with the teachers and the Principal. The fundraising events vary in nature from Sausage Sizzles to taking responsibility for running the annual "Founders Day Fair". The most recent example of expenditure was supporting $50,000 to share 50% of the purchase price of the new school bus. The bus is used almost daily for such things as ferrying pupils attending local sports activities to excursions in Sydney and further afield. Participation in fund raising events is optional, should you wish to attend the PTF meeting please be assured that there will be no pressure to participate in these activities.
Your participation will ensure you are kept up to date with the current results and future college plans, you will be able to ask questions to clarify areas of interest or concern and finally contribute by voicing your opinion and giving feedback.
