Parent Involvement

The PTF is a welcoming and relaxed community where parents, caregivers and teachers are encouraged to meet together on a regular basis and have open discussions concerning our school. The members of the PTF warmly welcome you to join us at 7.00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month during school terms.

The PTF is an important channel that represents the voice of the parents and teachers about issues that are important to our school community. Our regular monthly meetings allow Parents ample opportunity to raise and discuss ideas or areas of concern directly with the Principal. There were many diverse discussions last year and almost without exception a better understanding and consensus was reached in a cooperative and friendly environment. The PTF works closely with our Principal Dr Timothy Petterson, where a strong mutual trust and respect has been nurtured over time.

At the same time the PTF provides an important sounding board for Dr Petterson on issues that he wants to discuss and get feedback on prior to implementation. If you want early information about future College initiatives and have the opportunity to make a contribution by voicing your opinion then please feel free to attend. Plans like the College master plan and Senior School building plan, the new school offering of a more broad based music tuition, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, NAPLAN results, etc have been presented and discussed.

Of course the PTF continued to raise substantial funds to invest into the school in important areas where funding outside the normal budget items cannot be made available. The annual Founder's Day Fair is run by the PTF and a large proportion of our funds comes from running this event. The Founder's Day Fair is a massive undertaking and we greatly appreciate the wonderful team effort of so many parents and teachers that make this event such a success. Other fund raising events throughout the year include Mother's Day and Father's Day gift sales, Bunnings Barbecues, mango drive and others. The fundraising is supported by a number of volunteers and there will be no pressure or obligation if you are not able to participate. Recently the PTF has contributed funds towards purchasing a new school bus, musical instruments, construction of a green house, PA and visual system for Junior School and Robocup robotic equipment.

The PTF is also an ideal platform for new parents to the school to quickly integrate into the school community, find out what's happening and meet other parents and teachers in a friendly atmosphere.

If you would like to make a positive contribution to our school then I would offer an open invitation to join our monthly PTF meetings (dates are listed below). We have a great school and our purpose is to support and encourage St Philip’s Christian College in the journey towards achieving our potential.

Thank You,
Steve Hutchinson
Chairperson PTF
