For the Whole of Their Life.

Defence Transition Mentor

The purpose of the Defence Transition Mentor (DTM) Program is to facilitate the best possible educational outcome for children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members through on-site, direct and flexible assistance to children, parents, teachers and other support services.

The employment of a DTM (K-Year12) continues to raise the awareness of the issues associated with Mobility and Service related parental absence and assists in the development of strategies and opportunities for ADF families to be successfully integrated into the school community.

Some of the activities of a DTM include:
• helping children and families integrate into the new school and local community,
• planning welcome and farewell activities for relocating families,
• mentoring the social, emotional and academic wellbeing of Defence students
• planning events which bring awareness and appreciation of the unique Defence lifestyle.

Defence Transition Mentors are funded by Department of Defence through the Defence Community Organisation and are employed by respective schools or education systems within each State or Territory.

Our Defence Transition Mentor, Stacey, also runs lunchtime groups for Defence students and their friends. These include crafts, storytime and cooking.

Stacey is available Tuesday - Thursday  8.20am - 3.30pm.
