Middle School News - Week 4, Term 4 2019
What a couple of fabulous weeks at school. The students have been busy gearing up for assessments and especially busy are our Year Eight students, who next week will undergo their first examination block.
Congratulations to our newly elected captains for 2020. They are Kobi Custer and Hamish Eadie. Our newly elected vice captains are Lyla Hirst and Cooper Cashen. I am so proud of the effort and application that was made by all candidates in this year’s election. The speeches were outstanding on Monday morning and I believe that these students will do a wonderful job in their respective positions. I’d also like to mention the wonderful job performed by our incumbent captains in interviewing the prospective captains so thoroughly and counting and re-counting votes after the speeches were made. The newly appointed captains will be officially given their badges and introduced at our end-of-year awards ceremony.
A special mention goes to the students who performed recently at the Tomaree Arts Festival at Apex Park. Our College Concert Band, Choir, Guitar Ensemble and Senior Vocal Ensemble took part. It was a beautiful evening and our students shone as they performed in front of a large crowd. A big thank you to our Music Department for all of their hard work and to the tutors who teach our students so well.
This year we have been blessed to have Mrs Jodi Phipps join our Stage 3 team to help integrate STEM into the curriculum. I am amazed at just how much our students have learnt with regard to coding/programming, robotics, electronics and engineering. Find pictures below of the mouse trap racers and other activities that the students have been engaged in in recent times!
