Hi everyone and welcome to another action-packed year of Middle School! 2019 was good, but already I can see that 2020 will outshine it. It’s fantastic to have welcomed Mr Telfer as the new Principal and to support his vision of ‘transforming lives’. As a Middle School we acknowledge that this is a critical stage for students with regard to their learning and wellbeing. Our hope is that all of the children in Middle School will experience positive transformations as they approach adolescence.

Thank you for having your children so well prepared for the start of the school year. Their uniforms have looked amazing! We have had more new students start this year than I have experienced in our Middle School and it’s great to see them fitting in so well. My aim is that they will feel that they belong in next to no time. While I know there has been a lot of trepidation, I am glad that our new theme this year is ‘Courage’ as we’ve been able to talk about facing your fears in chapel and assembly.

Thank you also to the parents who attended our Stage Three Parent Information Night this week. The College values communication highly, so your attendance assists us to form good bonds between the school, our students and their parents. I hope that it was of benefit to you and that you feel more prepared for the year ahead. The Stage Four evening starts at 6pm (for a sausage sizzle) on Tuesday 18 February. It’s a great opportunity to meet your child’s Core teacher and mingle with the other parents in your child’s year group.

We have the College Swimming Carnivals next week and we’re looking forward to a couple of exciting days. Ensure you check the notes that have been sent home regarding pertinent information. The swimming carnivals are a terrific community spirit activity to begin our year – I know the students will be proudly wearing their house colours and encouraging each other throughout the day.

Finally, I’d like to wish you God’s blessings for the year ahead. We are so blessed to work in a school and environment such as this – thank you for entrusting your children to our care. We have so much to look forward to in Term One.
