Remote Learning Planning
In the present environment, we are making arrangements to ensure that students will be able to continue their learning if we are required to close the College.
This would take different forms depending on your child’s year group (see below), but will include a combination of online task delivery and supported work for as long as any interruption continues. We will be making regular contact with students at different times throughout each school day to monitor their progress and provide opportunities for feedback.
Junior School: Teachers will aim to make contact with students each day and to provide packages of work and activities to engage and develop each child’s learning.
Middle and Senior School: Teachers will aim to make contact with students each day and provide resources, instructions and feedback via either Edmodo or iLearn
In each case there will be scope for teachers to give feedback and answer questions. While students will not be expected to be online all day, it would be advantageous to allow for some computer access each day if possible. Now would be a good time to review your home internet capacity.
We are planning for a trial on Tuesday 31 March for a year group. We will ask Year 11 students to study from home all day to help test and refine our protocols in the light of feedback from students, parents and staff. After the trial we will prepare student, parent and teacher handbooks outlining what is expected and how our remote learning will be delivered.
Some assessment tasks and schedules may need to be adjusted and teachers will advise student and parent of these in a timely fashion. Our students will still have all the guidance and support that they need to achieve their potential.
Again, if any student or parent has any questions or concerns about what this education plan will look like, please make contact with your School secretary or myself.
NAPLAN Online – Stop Press!
We have received word this afternoon that the NAPLAN tests will not go ahead this year, consequently the practice tests scheduled for next Monday have been cancelled and students will attend classes as normal.
Blessings,
