Sport
St Philip’s Christian College has quickly become one of the leading Independent schools in the Hunter Region with its high levels of sporting success across a wide and varied range of sports. Students have many opportunities to represent the College in numerous sports both during and outside of school hours.
Three major Inter-House sport carnivals are held each year in Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics where the prestigious Inter-House Trophy for each is very keenly fought over by the four school Sporting Houses of Hunter, Macquarie, Paterson, and Williams.
At various times of the year students also have local inter-school cup competition opportunities in Netball, Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Swimming, Athletics, and Cross Country.
Many other sporting options are also offered through Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS) Sport where talented students can be selected to represent not only their local zone, but go on to represent the NSW and even Australia via State and National championships in a multitude of sports.
The Junior School also offers Chess as social and learning development through regular friendly lunchtime competitions. Representative teams are selected from the Junior School and Middle School to compete against other schools in the NSW Primary Chess League Teams competitions in the Rookies, Knights & Kings divisions.
