For the Whole of Their Life.

Music Opportunities at St Philip's Christian College Newcastle

Music permeates society and plays an important part in life. It is a significant part of every culture. Music is an effective channel for people to express their God-given creativity, to communicate their feelings and emotions and to relate to the world around them. Throughout the scriptures, music is also at the heart of a person’s relationship with God and is an extremely important part of the worship experience. As a result, performing, composing and listening to music, whether secular or religious, have the ability to touch the innermost soul of a person, and bring about a very meaningful experience.

St Philips Christian College's Music program provides students with professional education for instruments such as:

Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone
Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba
Strings: Violin, Viola, and Cello
Percussion (Includes Mallet Percussion and Drums)
Guitars: Electric, Acoustic and Bass
Voice: Classical and Contemporary
Piano: Classical and Contemporary

All Instrumental Music teachers are professionally qualified, highly experienced and able to provide weekly private tuition on an instrument of a student's choice. The College also strongly encourages all instrumental students to participate in one of the major bands or ensembles, including:

  • JS Choral Group (Yr 2 - 4)
