Student Leadership

As our Junior School consists of classes from Kindergarten to Year 4, embedded in our extra-curricular program are formalised student leadership roles for Year 4 students. Student leadership roles challenge individuals to develop a sense of vision and purpose as they take on responsibilities and use decision making skills in order to carry a project through to a successful conclusion. They develop interpersonal and intrapersonal skills including communication, negotiation, teamwork and reflection. Students are given opportunities to develop the skills of active, reflective listeners who respond effectively as they work with others to determine and achieve collective goals.

A leader is not someone who simply has a badge on their jacket. At St Philip's Christian College Gosford, we believe leaders are those who want to make a difference in the lives of others through service. "Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45), and so our leadership philosophy is based on this understanding.
