School Development

In 2019 we had numerous building projects at various stages of development. The following is an outline of the projects completed in 2018/19 at each of our schools.

Gosford Junior School
SPCC Gosford Junior School

Location: Narara is an outer Suburb of Gosford in an urban area located on the side of a hill with wonderful views to bushland.

Completion: 28 June 2018

Cost: $2.301 M (ex GST)

Construction: Demolition of existing portion of the Junior School Building and construct a new two-storey building that would create a strong entry statement for the school and set the tone for future development and expansion projects. Six new General Learning Areas are being created together with quiet spaces, new amenities and teacher facilities. A lift will be installed to ensure we are providing access to all students across all levels of our school site.

Waratah Junior School
Newcastle Junior School and Early Learning

Location: Waratah, located in the historic leafy outer suburbs of Newcastle. Approximately 10 minutes from Newcastle City.

Completion: 15 June 2018

Cost: $4.184 M (ex GST)

Construction: Partial demolition of the historic house on the corner of Harriet Street for redevelopment into new art and staff rooms and amenities. The remaining sections of the home are being restored to ensure the history of the home is retained for many more years.
The Early Learning and Junior School departments will be provided with two brand new, state of the art open learning areas, these areas are divided by a central corridor that links the historic home with the new school building on the upper level. On the lower level two new large GLA’s will be provided together with breakout space.

Cessnock Sports Hall
Cessnock Sports Centre

Location: Nulkaba, NSW approximately 5 minutes North West of Cessnock in the Lower Hunter Valley.

Completion: 21 May 2018

Cost: $5.935 M (ex GST)

Construction: New construction of a large steel frame building that would have the ability to be extended to create more courts and indoor sporting functions.
The current building houses one court for use as a basket ball court, for net ball, volley ball or as a general gymnasium. The building will also be fitted with state of the art audio visual equipment to enable the school to use the building for school assemblies, concerts and shows, movies and family events.
The design of the building is a bold statement and is a testament to the schools commitment to supporting the health and fitness of students and the development of an excellent school in what is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW

Port Stephens Enabling Works / Electro Building

Location: This school is located in the popular Salamanda Bay. A holiday destination but also a growing area based around the wonderful coastline and an abundance of water activities.

Completion: 13 April 2018

Cost: $556 K (ex GST)

Construction: Construct new woodwork room, Electro lab, & foodtech/Hospitality within existing school buildings to enable demo of existing TTC building.
These works are required to make way for the construction of the new Senior School adjacent to the undercover courts. Construction of the new Senior School will require demolition of the existing food tech building.

Port Stephens Senior School
Port Stephens Senior School

Completion: July 2019

Cost: $8M approximately including upgrades to all infrastructure work and construction of the new carpark.
This state of the art school will be a show stopper and will provide wonderful areas in which the senior students will enjoy working and studying. This new Senior School precinct features - Harvard Style Classrooms, common areas for senior students, an exam centre, a senior resource centre, flexible, technology-rich, light and spacious learning environments, a gym and a cafe.
Over three levels, this school will set the standard for all new SPCC senior school buildings.
