The Saints Go Marching In
Oh, when the Saint's go marching in... the go marching into the Wilburd Shield Under 15's Boys Cricket State Final. On Wednesday, our team took on Northern Beaches Christian School at Mulbring Oval. After a hard-fought contest, the team cam out victorious, qualifying for the State Final.
A huge thank you and congratulations to our team coach and Cricket Co-ordinator Andy Hall on all his work in helping the boys reach the final.
The team worked incredibly hard at the start of the game, putting in 169 in their 40 overs. This was achieved by great batsman, such as Ben (46), Connor (42), Lachlan (27), and Sam (24).
The boys set about taking some early wickets and putting substantial pressure on the Northern Teachers team.
During water break (20 overs), we were set up for the win with 3-60 - with both teams confident with their position in the match. It was then that the opposing teams batsman really brought their A game. With 10 overs to play Northern Beaches were 3/111 - but they had yet to meet Connor, Ben and Hudson!
The following few overs saw Hudson finish with figures of 5-17 (this would be his second five wicket hall for school this season), Ben 2-9, and Connor 1-22. The other phenomenal wicket taker was Jack, with 2-22.
The bowling change yield a score of 7-8, with the Northern Beaches out for 119.
Well done to the boys on an excellent win and securing their place into the State Final!
This upcoming Friday (8 March), our College Cross Country Carnival will be held in conjunction with Colour Run. It will be an excellent day of fun, colour and excitement. We are looking forward to another great event. With the students working hard in their fitness sessions, particularly on their strength and conditioning programs, we are sure to see some excellent results in 2019, during the Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals. Students have been building toward personal bests, as they continually stack successes, and get comfortable being uncomfortable.
We have lots of sport coming up in Term 1, with our HRIS Swimming Carnivals, Reg Kelly Cup Cricket - as well as HRIS trials for football, netball and a plethora of other sports. We look forward to continuing the great success.
