PIARTSA: Watching our Creative Arts Students Excel
Piartsa is one of my favourite events of the school calendar and again this year did not disappoint. Thank you to all our students, staff and families who braved the heat and came along to support this great night. The creative arts is a really important subject in our school curriculum which enriches our student’s education and indeed their lives. It is wonderful to have the opportunity at Piartsa to showcase their talent and celebrate their achievements over this year.
The event is all about giving each and every student a chance to participate in, witness and experience different kinds of performance. We all know that performing in front of your peers and teachers can be quite daunting. However, these opportunities allow the expression and appreciation of both creativity and culture. Preparing for performance involves learning the ability to work with others co-operatively and demands a level of self-discipline in committing to memorising your chords or your lines. It also has the benefit of developing the character of openness as each student receives and responds to feedback. Most importantly, student performance has the potential to enhance self-confidence and the joy of experiencing that sense of accomplishment.
Well done to all our students who entertained us through their recent performances, impressed us with their great courage to get up onto the stage or who inspired us with their creative art works.
Also, a big thanks to our P&F committee for sweating it out at the BBQ to ensure that we were all fed and refreshed with food and drinks.
