4 Reasons Why School Open Days Are a Good Thing
Each year, St Philip's Christian College Cessnock welcomes the public to its Open Day to experience all that St Philip's has to offer. Our Open Day is an exciting chance for future students and parents to learn more about facilities, programs, opportunities and services that St Philip's Cessnock offers. Here are some of the awesome reasons why you should attend our Open Day:
1. You can see teaching and learning in action
At St Philip's we run our first Open Day session during school hours. This allows us to show you a 'behind the scenes' look into school life. You will be able to immerse yourself in the school's learning culture and get a first-hand glimpse of the school on an average day. You will have the chance to see all areas of the school in action, with students and teachers competing in the Activate Centre, conducting car maintenance in our automotive workshop and making the most of our state-of-the-art facilities in the arts and sciences.
2. Learn about the curriculum
Education has a lot of acronyms and buzz words that can sound like a completely different language but hearing about it, asking questions and taking notes will make it less daunting and less of a mystery. This will help you explain to your child the importance of learning goals and will outline clearer what your child is experiencing academically at school.
A look at some handy reminders and practical things that you can do to help your teenager not just survive, but thrive as they strive for excellence in their HSC.
3. Meet teachers, students and other parents
During our Open Day you will get the invaluable opportunity to chat to our teachers, students and other parents. Our tours are led by not only our executive leadership team, including our Principal but also by our best ambassadors, our school students. Feel free to ask our students any questions about their St Philip's experience - we are sure that they will be excited to tell you about the many reasons why they love college life.
4. Visualise your child in the school
Choosing a school for your child can be a daunting task. Many of us do our homework before making a big purchase and selecting a school should not be any different. Just like you would not buy a car without taking it for a test drive, or a house without seeing it first, you should not decide on a school before visiting the campus in person. The feeling you get from physically being at a campus will be an important indicator of whether the school is a good fit for your child and family.
At St Philip's Cessnock we understand that the choice of a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. We want to assist you in any way that we can, and that is why we ensure that you get a thorough guided tour throughout our welcoming campus and get an authentic feel for our wonderful campus. We would love to extend the offer for you to attend an Open Day here at St Philip's Christian College Cessnock.
