Meet our Aboriginal Support Worker — Aunty Debbie!
Hello to the SPCC Cessnock community,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to staff and families of St Philip's Christian College Cessnock. I have recently been employed at SPCC Cessnock, into the role of Aboriginal Support Worker within the wellbeing unit.
I claim my Aboriginal descent from my father. My identity is with the Pyemmairrener people in Tasmania. I describe myself as being Palawa, which is equivalent to the word Koori in New South Wales.
Born and raised on Awabakal country — I am the proud mother of four children, and a grandmother to five.
I have worked within the community services sector for over 30 years now, and am very much looking forward to getting to know the St Philip's Christian College Cessnock College community.
