International Student Program Recognised

Wednesday 4th November 2009

Now in their ninth year, the Annual Hunter & Central Coast Export Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding success of the Hunter’s & Central Coast’s exporters across a range of sectors. On May 22nd this year 120 guests attended the presentations at the Hunter Theatre, Broadmeadow. In a large field of diverse entrants, from high tech boat builders to body therapy companies, St Philip’s received recognition for being one of twenty-three finalists, and was acknowledged with a special encouragement award. In the last twelve months the College has increased and diversified our International Student Program, and this award recognized the growth and success of our program.

However, what these awards do not reflect is the underlying opportunity and benefit the program also offers to local as well as international students. We believe that by knowing and understanding different cultures in a fresh and personal way we will truly give our local students a holistic and global perspective and education. Our international students will likewise experience what it is like to live with an Australian family and attend a Christian school.

The awards are organised by the Hunter Export Centre (HEC). The HEC is a unit of the Hunter Economic Development Corporation and is supported by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development. It was acknowledged that we are taking the best of the Hunter and Central Coast regions to the world, creating local investment and jobs; and allowing students from around the world to experience a truly Australian Christian education. Catherine Mostyn, International Student Adviser at Port Stephens Campus accepted the award on behalf of the students, staff and families who are committed to the success of the international program across our College campuses and communities.
