Boys Breakfast ClubWednesday 8th April 2009 The Boys Breakfast Club at Port Stephens Campus currently consists of 16 boys. They run three mornings a week; Mon, Wed, Fri, arriving at 7am. The 16 boys work on a roster with 6-10 boys showing up each morning. First they use a blower-vac and brooms to clean the playground as well as picking up rubbish.
Then at 7.45, the boys meet in the music room kitchen where they have cereal, toast and vegemite, Milo, raisin toast and the like. During this time they have an opportunity to have a chat as mentors try to instil some values, guidelines and morals throughout the conversation. Most of the boys are from single parent families.
The boys also take on small building projects, such as the deck (full article in the next issues of The Life).
Last Thursday and Friday, the members of the Boys Breakfast Club went on a boat trip. They went out in Mr Craig Saunders’ boat to a couple of spots in the bay. The boys can swim, fish, kayak and use the tinnie. They have pies for lunch and a great day is had by all. This event takes place twice a year as a "thank you" for all that they do.
