THANK YOU - DONORS and VOLUNTEERSTuesday 10th March 2009 Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
On behalf of the D.A.L.E. staff I would like to acknowledge some recent donations which drepresent a considerable saving to our organisation, these being:
- Scaffold from Phil Zeitsch of ACE Scaffolding in Warners Bay. Our buildings have 4.4m high ceilings and some of the common maintenance tasks we need to carry out such as changing light bulbs, cleaning ceiling fans and painting walls and ceilings require scaffold to carry out safely.
- Loan of scaffold the Christmas period from Mr. Tony Langford of Team Scafflink, Carrington. The scaffold was used by our staff to paint two of our classrooms.
- Safety audit of our site arranged by Mr. David Cockbain of Safety and Forensic Engineering, Morpeth.
I would also like to acknowledge the support and generosity of Empowered Living Services who donated $74,000 toward the moving and setting up of demountables from St. Philip’s Waratah over the 2007-2008 Christmas holidays. Thank you also Viktor Nikolas of IM Engineering made a significant contribution of his services in this project.
Over the past 11 years many people have volunteered in D.A.L.E. to help with administration support, grounds maintenance, readers / writers, running workshops such as beading and child-care in our crèche. Those who have recently volunteered and / or are currently volunteering are Helen Princehorn working one-on-one with students, the LIFT Flying team with Chris Teale, Paul Simmons and Al Clements, the Kiwanis led by their President Kerry Plunkett who have done some amazing make-overs to our grounds and gardens for a number of years and Rae Coughlin who is assisting with our fund-raising program.
I would also like to thank those who have served on our D.A.L.E. Council. Our current Council is made up of the CEO of St. Philip’s, Graeme Irwin, myself and community members Pam Tierney, Judy Gresham, Neal Stevenson and Matt Reeves.
The contribution of these people and organisations has greatly assisted the development of our D.A.L.E. Program.
Kevin Berger
D.A.L.E. Executive Program Director
