Appointment of New PrincipalFriday 6th February 2009 The Board of Governors of St Philip’s Christian College has approved the appointment of Mrs Pam O’Dea to the Principalship of Newcastle Campus from the beginning of this year.
This will enable me to continue with my role as Executive Principal and give me more time to devote to the development of the whole group of St Philip’s schools and associated activities. 2009 is a transition year and during this period we will be involved jointly in many aspects of leadership as Mrs O’Dea takes over more of the Principal’s role.
Mrs O’Dea has been at the College for over 20 years and much of that time has been in a leadership capacity. She has qualifications in both Primary and Secondary education and extensive experience in both. She has held the positions of Faculty Head, Director of Studies, Assistant Principal and Acting Principal. She has overseen major Board of Studies inspections ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the College. Her contribution to the extra-curricular life of the College over the years has been enormous. In particular, she has brought a level of excellence to choirs and musicals that is renowned in the city.
Moreover, I commend her to you as the ideal Principal to take this campus to the next level because of her heart for God, and for children and young people. I admire her passion to see people come to fullness in Christ and reach their potential in this life and the next. I will do everything in my power to see her be the most successful Principal possible. I ask that the whole school community do likewise.
In His service
Graeme Irwin
Executive Principal
