2008 School Captain
Good evening parents, teachers and students. Since I have left school I have realized just how much I miss coming here. And for the first time in my life I have actually said “I wish I was at school!” which I didn’t expect would happen. Firstly there are the teachers whose care and concern are by far uncommon. I have talked with students from other schools about the kind of things our teachers have done to go the extra mile and the things they have sown into our lives and they have always been amazed. I’m sure that for all of them this is not just a job but a life’s work.

Secondly there is also the chilled, safe, family friendly and caring culture that only exists because of the people. This culture can not be found in very many other schools and will be sadly missed. Even though there are formal teacher-student-staff interactions there is a personal…almost family feel to school life. I couldn’t imagine never knowing the friends that have been given to me here because of how much they are a part of my life.

I personally have taken for granted, to a degree, attending this school and not fully realizing how good I have it here, which I do regret. For those of you continuing on at St. Phillips I hope that you take full advantage of this part of your life because I for one realize now that here ends a chapter in my life that I will remember for the rest of my life because of its impact on who I am today. And I believe I speak for all the year 12’s here when I say this.

I know now that this is the school God intended for me to attend as my time here has been not just a learning experience but a life experience and a God experience, which I’m so grateful for. So I would now like to take this opportunity to thank firstly God for His faithfulness and goodness in getting us where we are today. The teachers and staff for that part of your life that you have sown into St. Phillips and into us. Your care, concern, love and support will always be remembered and will always be bearing fruit in all of our future endeavours. And to the parents…your support and sacrifice we are learning to appreciate even more so now as we are entering university and/or the workforce. I especially want to thank St. Phillips for your faith in our school as you have sown into our lives and continue to do so in the years to come. With all this in mind, I am truly proud to have attended St. Philllips Christian College Gosford.
