2008 School Captain's SpeechMonday 15th December 2008 Good evening guests, parents’ teachers and students.
As we near the end of the night I would like to take this opportunity to briefly offer a reflection on the school and some words of appreciation
First off, I count it a privilege to have spent the past 13 years at Gosford Christian school with my final year at St Phillips Christian College. The school has provided me with the knowledge, faith and guidance to be ready to take on challenges that lie ahead.
The past 12 months have been times of incredible growth.
It was a year with the perfect balance of fun, excitement, diligence and hard work.
Tonight is a great night to spend together, to honour the hard work of both students and teachers and to wrap up another successful school year.
The fantastic year I have had is owing to the bunch of fun, exciting, and incredibly warm students and teachers I spent every day with.
Who would the students be without the amazing influence and continual input from our teachers? We owe a huge debt to the endless hours or hard work that we know all you teachers put in. Our teachers, who are constantly pushing us, helping us to reach our potential, their high expectations and their desire to see every student grow in their God given talent and indeed their relationship with Jesus Christ are some of the qualities I really admire. It will be missed.
Our parents, you have shaped us and guided us, you have made us into the confident young people who are ready and willing and exited about the journey ahead of us, and that is a real testament to you guys.
This school has come a long way in the last couple of years. With the sale of the school last year, I believe the only possible direction for the school now is forward. And that is exciting. It’s exciting to see such as victory. But it is a victory that we expected because I know that the Lord was guiding those with decision making power, and that he holds the future of the school in his hands.
Mr Harrison who sadly is leaving the college this year, has played a huge part in implementing change in the college and keeping it stable over the last few years. His passion for the school is clearly evident and I would like to make special mention of him. For 18 years he has served the school with a servant heart.
For the college to come through such a time only builds strength and determination. I am confident in the future of the college, because it is a God Centred college. God will do amazing things in the college because that is our prayer. Proverbs 3:6 says, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.
In closing, Laura and I would also like to announce that the fundraising efforts by yr 12 this year have provided the resources to donate a slippery dip to the new junior school playground for completion next year.
Thank you.
